In partnership with Youth for Youth Quebec (Y4Y), LEARN is launching I belong here!, a new project to encourage students in Quebec’s English Schools to develop their French communication skills and increase their confidence in their future as bilingual Quebecers.

Y4Y will be recruiting Youth Mentors who have successfully navigated their post-secondary education and work opportunities in both languages to share their experiences with students.

Teachers…. Are you concerned about your students’ motivation to develop their bilingualism and biliteracy skills so that they can participate in any potential post-secondary education or work opportunities they choose?

Comic zine

Inspired by Y4Y’s Youth Mentors and their own reflections on what motivates them to develop their French communication skills, students are guided to create Comic zines that share how they connect with their second language learning. Bilingual comic artist Laurence Dea Dionne or graphic novelist Scott MacLeod will collaborate with teachers virtually and visit schools in-person to facilitate the creative process with students over 3-7 weeks, culminating in a celebration of the students’ work.
